An ‘Agony Aunt’ approach to dealing with difficult issues

Description

An ‘Agony Aunt’ approach to dealing with difficult issues

The fast-paced, easy-to-communicate world that we live in gives many opportunities to keep in touch but also increases awareness of so many issues and complexities arising from relationships, daily living and the society of which we are a part.

Whether it is dealing with personal situations or pressures, finding a way to talk through worries and options in a safe environment can be difficult.

This resource covers some of these common worries and problems, covering areas such as:

  • Health
  • Self-esteem
  • Body image
  • Concern for friends
  • Internet pressures and more

Each topic is presented as a letter to an ‘Agony Aunt’. Participants are invited to consider possible responses to each by being the Agony Aunt and to think through who would be the best person within their personal network of family, friends and others and then address the letter to them. A range of possibilities is given at the front of the book which suggest people who may be most appropriate.

What’s Your Problem? will help students to identify their own support network as well as encouraging them to consider creative and innovative ways of dealing with their worries.
