Blobs are a way of communicating using two of the first languages learnt as children – body language and feelings.
Appropriate cards can be selected from the pack for a discussion, or the choice of the images could be left for those with whom you are working to choose. The cards also help the user to understand how we all relate to one another.

About The Authors
Ian Long is the illustrator and author of the Blob resources. He studied graphic design and worked as a self-employed designer in London for several years. His second job was as a youth and pastoral assistant in an Anglican church in Tewkesbury for five years. Following a PGCE, he worked as a primary school teacher in Sussex and Hampshire for 17 years, during which time he graduated with a Master’s Degree in education. He has authored more than 25 published Blob books and more than 50 self-published ones. The Blob resources are used in more than 120 countries and by more than 3 million professionals. Ian hosts Blob training events online and in person. He is married to Jane, and they have two adult children.
Pip Wilson was a pioneering youth worker, author, and communicator. For many years, he ran a youth club and community centre in one of London’s most deprived areas. Here he worked with young people, many of whom were caught up in gangs. During this period, Pip realised the importance of managing his own feelings, which put him in a better position to help others. It was this insight that set the foundations for what would eventually become “Blob Tree”.
As well as being an author of more than 50 books, Pip was a charity CEO for more than 20 years, working internationally, and ran workshops and courses in leadership and teamwork, with emotional intelligence at the heart of his work. In later life, he continued to share his “Pipology”, mentoring many and running training courses for universities, businesses, and charities worldwide. He was driven by his work, passionate about encouraging people to not only love one another but also to love themselves, and believed everyone was a “Beautiful Human Person”.
Pip died in 2023, leaving a wonderful legacy. The influence and impact of his groundbreaking work continue to inspire people worldwide. Pip’s family is now working closely with Ian and Blob Tree.
“Anyone who buys these books, posters, and flash cards will find them of enormous value in promoting pupils’ emotional and physical well-being and safety…worth every penny“.
