Guided meditations and visualisations to relax busy little minds

By Juliet Firstbrook

Description

In today?s busy world children are being constantly stimulated and entertained, thus leaving them little opportunity to clear and calm their minds. These meditations encourage children to stop and reflect in a relaxing and enjoyable way, making them eager for more opportunities to seek calming activities. They also help children to fully understand the meaning of ?calmness? and to realise the benefits of being able to achieve a state of calm in any circumstance.

This programme includes 20 meditations on the theme of nature. Each one takes the listener on a journey into the countryside or seaside and to a place where they feel safe, happy and calm. The meditations encourage the children to let go of their thoughts and worries and to focus on a place where they can be themselves.

The meditation themes are:

  • Beach
  • Kingfisher
  • Butterfly
  • Campfire
  • Garden
  • Woods
  • Waterfall
  • Snow
  • Autumn??
  • Trees??
  • Flowers
  • Spring
  • River
  • Deer
  • Rabbit
  • Summer
  • Farm
  • Harvest
  • Orchard
  • Cliff top

Each meditation is accompanied by a follow-up activity which allows the children to express how they felt during the meditation. There is also an illustration to inspire them and to colour in. Along with the meditations and writing activity, there is also a FREE CD of original piano compositions with soothing nature sounds in the background. These help to set the scene during the guided meditations if required but can also be used independently for short, quiet meditations.
